Recommendations for Putting in a Garden Water Feature

A water source and an electrical outlet are two essential items that many people do not consider when determining where they want to put in their garden fountain. The thrill of owning one occasionally causes people to overlook the technical aspects when setting it up for the first time. The majority of power cords are 12 feet long and need a 120v outdoor socket, though an extension cord can always be added. Position your fountain in a place near a water source as you will need to replenish it. Carrying large quantities of water requires strength so you do not want to have to carry it a long distance. A nearby water hose is helpful when time comes to fill the fountain. The ideal setup is with a water fountain autofill, but this has to be connected to an external water line and requires a professional to install it.

Ancient Outside Water Fountain Designers

Often working as architects, sculptors, artists, engineers and cultivated scholars all in one, from the 16th to the later part of the 18th century, fountain designers were multi-talented people, Leonardo da Vinci, a Renaissance artist, was celebrated as an ingenious master, inventor and scientific virtuoso.

He systematically recorded his findings in his now famed notebooks about his research into the forces of nature and the qualities and movement of water. Brilliant water exhibits full with symbolic meaning and all-natural wonder converted private villa settings when early Italian water feature creators paired imagination with hydraulic and landscaping expertise. Known for his incredible skill in archeology, architecture and garden creations, Pirro Ligorio, the humanist, offered the vision behind the splendors in Tivoli. Well versed in humanist themes and ancient technical texts, other water fountain designers were masterminding the extraordinary water marbles, water attributes and water pranks for the countless properties around Florence.

Design Variations for Exterior Fountains

A garden can be a little oasis, providing you a tranquil place to stop and enjoy some outdoor time. There is nothing as beautiful as one to chill out in, something you can keep in mind when you are working to get it set up. The value of your home will appreciate with a lovely garden area, as it will enhance the “curb appeal” of the property. A water feature is not the only way to improve your landscape; consider adding trees and bushes, paving your driveway, or even putting in some eye-catching statues.

A significant improvement to your garden can be achieved by putting in a water fountain. A place of tranquility and serenity will appear from what was at first just a simple spot. The sounds of a water fountain make for a calming environment, not just for people but for the birds and other local wildlife that it will entice. Your fountain will promptly turn into the main feature of your garden or yard.

The Famed Revelation Water Feature at Chatsworth Gardens

“Revelation,” the latest inclusion to the ornamental garden fountains of Chatsworth, was designed by renowned British sculptor Angela Conner. In celebration of the Queen’s 80th birthday, she was mandated by the deceased 11th Duke of Devonshire to create a limited edition bust of Queen Elizabeth designed of brass and steel in 2004. “Revelation” was installed in 1999 in Jack Pond, one of Chatsworth’s earliest ponds. It takes the shape of four big flower petals designed from steel which opens and close with the water movement, alternatively concealing and revealing a gold colored globe at the sculpture’s center. Standing five meters high and five meters wide, the globe was made from metal and then coated with gold dust.

This newest fountain is an interesting addition to the Gardens at Chatsworth because the petals’ motion is totally powered by water.
