Rome, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, And Public Fountains

There are many renowned Roman fountains in its city center. One of the best ever sculptors and artists of the 17th century, almost all of them were designed, conceptualized and constructed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini. Traces of his life's efforts are obvious throughout the avenues of Rome simply because, in addition to his abilities as a water feature creator, he was also a city builder. Ultimately travelling to Rome to completely show their artwork, primarily in the shape of community water fountains, Bernini’s father, a renowned Florentine sculptor, guided his young son. The young Bernini received compliments from Popes and influential artists alike, and was an excellent employee. Originally he was renowned for his sculpting skills. Working gracefully with Roman marble, he used a base of expertise in the historical Greek architecture, most obviously in the Vatican. Although many artists had an impact on his work, Michelangelo had the most profound effect.

Water Elements: A Necessity in any Japanese Landscapes

Japanese gardens usually feature a water element. The Japanese water fountain is considered symbolic of spiritual and physical cleansing, so it is typically placed in or near the doorways of temples or homes. Since water is the most important component of any Japanese fountain, the design is generally simple.

Moreover, water fountains with built-in bamboo spouts are very common.

The bamboo spout is placed over the basin, typically constructed of natural rocks, and water trickles out. It must have a worn-down, weathered appearance as well. People want their fountain to look as natural as possible, so they put plants, flowers, and stones around the fountain. Clearly this fountain is much more than simply a nice add-on.

An alternative is to buy a stone fountain, set it on a bed of rock, and place live bamboo and pretty stones around it. After some years it begins to really blend into the surrounding nature as moss blankets the stone.

Anyone who has an extensive area to work with can, of course, out in a much bigger water feature. Charming add-ons include a babbling stream or tiny pool with koi in it.

There are different alternatives if you do not want to put water in your Japanese fountain. Lots of people prefer to represent water with sand, gravel, or rocks rather than putting in real water. You can also assemble flat stones and put them close enough together that they look like water in motion.

The Benefits of a Water Fountain in Your Workplace

Most customers love water fountains. The entranceway to your company or store is a great place to place a water fountain as will increase traffic flow as well as differentiate you from others. Yoga studios, bookstores, coffee shops, salons, and other retail spaces are ideal places to install a water feature. The right water fountain will offer a relaxing ambiance to a business where people enjoy gathering outdoors. Couples out on a romantic date will definitely appreciate a charming fountain in any bar or restaurant.

Presenting Contained Garden Water Fountains

Self-Contained fountains are inexpensive and easy to install and are therefore in demand. The plumbing, pump, and other components come included with the fountain. Fountains that feature their own water source are also known as “self-contained”.

Self-contained water fountains are quite easy to set up making them the best option for your patio or veranda. Their versatility is also an advantage, as they are very uncomplicated to move around.

Once you determine where you want to put your fountain, your landscaper should verify that it is not too bumpy or uneven. If your landscaper thinks the ground is too bumpy, he can always level it for you. Your water feature is now set for installation and the addition of water. The final thing left to do is to connect it to a power source such as batteries, a wall socket, or a solar panel, and it will be set to go.

Since it is stand-alone and does not necessitate an external water source or plumbing, a self-contained fountain is optimal for anyone looking for ease and convenience. Lots of people place them in the center of the garden, but they can really go anywhere. Cast stone, metal, ceramic, and fiberglass are just some of the materials used to build them.

The Extraordinary Santa Maria in Cosmedin Water Fountain in Rome

Remarkable discoveries of both Christian and pagan origin have been made by archaeologists and restorers in the area around Santa Maria in Cosmedin in Rome. The nearby basilica is mainly famous for the marble sculpture known as the Bocca della Verità, (Mouth of Truth) located in its entryway. Built in 1719, the Santa Maria in Cosmedin fountain was relatively unknown and located far from sight making it difficult to visit. The part of town where it was situated was forlorn and uninviting which generally kept people away. In order to modernize the square outside the church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin, Pope Clement XI commissioned an Italian architect by the name of Carlo Bizzaccheri to create a water fountain for the area. The task of laying down the church’s first stones began on August 17, 1717. After blessing of the first stone, medals bearing the illustration of the Blessed Virgin, for whom the church is named, and of St. John the Baptist, the patron saint of water, were thrown into the foundation.
